Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Made Simple: 10 Strategies for Managing Anxiety, Depression, Anger, Panic, and Worry by Seth J。 Gillihan 4。25 Stars I came across this book on several lists of books for people struggling with anxiety and depression。 I found this to be a really great primer for CBT, with information and steps that can be put to use right away。 As the title suggests, it is very simple and one doesn’t need any background to understand it。 Unlike many self-help books, the steps are ve Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Made Simple: 10 Strategies for Managing Anxiety, Depression, Anger, Panic, and Worry by Seth J。 Gillihan 4。25 Stars I came across this book on several lists of books for people struggling with anxiety and depression。 I found this to be a really great primer for CBT, with information and steps that can be put to use right away。 As the title suggests, it is very simple and one doesn’t need any background to understand it。 Unlike many self-help books, the steps are very clear and evidence-based。 I found the chapter related to negative thoughts to be particularly helpful。 Most of the information that was useful to me was presented in the first half of the book but the book is created to choose the chapters that you need the most。 I think the “10 Strategies” title is a little odd as I don’t think there were 10 particular strategies laid out。 There are 10 chapters, but one is an introduction to CBT。 That one annoyance aside, I found myself highlighting and actually doing the activities as I read through this book。 I think some of the advice will definitely stick and serve as a good building block as I continue to work on my mental health。 。。。more

A basic review of CBT principles。

A lot of self-help books miss the mark in terms of offering quality strategies for managing your depression, anxiety, panic, procrastination, anger and worry。 Gillihan's work succeeds in this regard。 10 chapters are dedicated to offering you solutions as to how to manage yourself, giving a snippit of homework at the tail-end of each (to hold you accountable)。 I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who struggles with any of the above。 A lot of self-help books miss the mark in terms of offering quality strategies for managing your depression, anxiety, panic, procrastination, anger and worry。 Gillihan's work succeeds in this regard。 10 chapters are dedicated to offering you solutions as to how to manage yourself, giving a snippit of homework at the tail-end of each (to hold you accountable)。 I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who struggles with any of the above。 。。。more

Good book。 Gonna reread and put further into practice。 Could have more depth, but also seems to be simple and accessible enough for beginners。

This is a great first step into Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, I would suggested it to anyone who has no experience with therapy or redirecting their mindset。 If this was my first self-help book I would think it was wonderful。 It was a great reminder tool, personally I don't feel it offered much in the ways of new ideas when dealing with anxiety or depression。 There wasn't an Aha moment for me, but that isn't to say there isn't one for another reader。 This is a great first step into Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, I would suggested it to anyone who has no experience with therapy or redirecting their mindset。 If this was my first self-help book I would think it was wonderful。 It was a great reminder tool, personally I don't feel it offered much in the ways of new ideas when dealing with anxiety or depression。 There wasn't an Aha moment for me, but that isn't to say there isn't one for another reader。 。。。more

I finished this book a couple weeks ago but forgot to write a brief review。 I was super interested in nutrition but my new kick is psychology — mainly the leading theories on psychology treatment。 No one can seek mental health help without stumbling upon Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)。 Really, though, there should — and is, sometimes — be an ‘M’ for ‘Mindfulness’ at the beginning (MCBT)。The author breaks down his approach to “Think。 Act。 Be” which equate to the cognitive, behavioral, and min I finished this book a couple weeks ago but forgot to write a brief review。 I was super interested in nutrition but my new kick is psychology — mainly the leading theories on psychology treatment。 No one can seek mental health help without stumbling upon Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)。 Really, though, there should — and is, sometimes — be an ‘M’ for ‘Mindfulness’ at the beginning (MCBT)。The author breaks down his approach to “Think。 Act。 Be” which equate to the cognitive, behavioral, and mindfulness-based pieces of MCBT respectively。All in all I enjoyed the book, though I was hoping for a little deeper dive into the topic than was offered。 。。。more

Simple, clear, actionable, and organized so well (which tends to be the downfall of many other titles)。 Without a doubt one of the best books on CBT I've ever read。 It reads well as a reference guide, or a primer for the uninitiated。 Either way, it's stellar。 Simple, clear, actionable, and organized so well (which tends to be the downfall of many other titles)。 Without a doubt one of the best books on CBT I've ever read。 It reads well as a reference guide, or a primer for the uninitiated。 Either way, it's stellar。 。。。more

CBT truly made simple。 Concise and digestible chapters with relevant activities and charts to drive points home。 As a psych major, I really like how Gillihan organized the book in a way that helps to open up the reader to concepts without overwhelming or confusing them。 It took awhile for me to get through for some reason but overall, I'd recommend to anyone who wants to make changes in their lives but isn't sure what's going on/if they'd benefit from therapy。 CBT truly made simple。 Concise and digestible chapters with relevant activities and charts to drive points home。 As a psych major, I really like how Gillihan organized the book in a way that helps to open up the reader to concepts without overwhelming or confusing them。 It took awhile for me to get through for some reason but overall, I'd recommend to anyone who wants to make changes in their lives but isn't sure what's going on/if they'd benefit from therapy。 。。。more

3。5I found this book very repetitive which is my only negative。 I was never immensely boring and it definitely was simple。 I liked it and I helped simplify some of my problematic emotions。 It was good at putting a lot of things I had been feeling over the years into words I could understand and dissect。 Some good strategies for anyone going through a tough time

After reading Cognitive Behavioral Therapy in 7 weeks, this book seems lacking。 It's almost a regurgitation of the book with some minor entries。I'd just stick to the original book After reading Cognitive Behavioral Therapy in 7 weeks, this book seems lacking。 It's almost a regurgitation of the book with some minor entries。I'd just stick to the original book 。。。more

My therapist recommended that I read this book。 His goal is to make me my own therapist and be able to help myself。 This book is short and sweet, and has very helpful strategies and examples。 The most powerful thing I'm taking away is to be grateful and mindful。 My therapist recommended that I read this book。 His goal is to make me my own therapist and be able to help myself。 This book is short and sweet, and has very helpful strategies and examples。 The most powerful thing I'm taking away is to be grateful and mindful。 。。。more

Amazing Book through and throughThis book is very articulate and feels very naturally relatable and insightful at the same time。 He takes science like psychology concepts and translates them into very simple and powerful concepts and tools for us to use。 I’ve read many self help books。 This is one of the good ones。

Michael Calkins

Excellent book that walks you through the process of CBT。

3。5 I like CBT and haven't done it much。 The whole minor changes for long lasting improvements and adapting with the great big life, yeah I get it。 The layout didn't flow great for me, and nothing sticks out that I recall。 Though I feel I implemented something and it was really effective。 I'll see if my early notes show up and answer that musing。 3。5 I like CBT and haven't done it much。 The whole minor changes for long lasting improvements and adapting with the great big life, yeah I get it。 The layout didn't flow great for me, and nothing sticks out that I recall。 Though I feel I implemented something and it was really effective。 I'll see if my early notes show up and answer that musing。 。。。more

Pratical, simple, educational, has enough examples and real-life stories which I liked the most。 It is like a short CBT course and well-explained one。

3。5 starsAs the title implies, this book really breaks down CBT。 I liked it enough。This is a late entry, but I’m finally going back and adding these books to my GRs! Uplifting Three words “Think, Act, Be” are the key words in this uplifting book。 The author did a great job in providing a thorough explanation of how our minds trigger the thoughts that affects your lives。 He even provided exercises at the end of each chapter to help aid in our efforts to be a better version of ourselves。

A phenomenal book, I will be reading it over and over。 Great, specific steps and strategies to get a better hold of your behaviors and thoughts。

This was my first book on CBT, so I’m not sure how it stacks up against the rest。 But it is actionable, and more importantly, I’ve put enough techniques in it to practice to be able to say that I think it is effective — at least for me! It is also concise。 There aren’t many wasted words。 Recommended。

Started this book in October and just finished it。 Definitely a book rich with interactive tips and trainings on how to rewire the mind to be more productive and positive。 I was caught between rating it three stars and four stars。 I went with three because I’m not super fond of interactive “homework” books, so I kind of dragged my feet in reading it。 But it really does have some great content!
